The Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior (SSIB) is an organization committed to advancing scientific research on food and fluid intake and its associated biological, psychological and social processes. The Society provides a multidisciplinary environment for the free exchange of ideas and information, and serves as a resource for scientific expertise and education on topics related to the study of ingestive behavior.

Vision Statement

The Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior aims:

  • 1. to serve as:
    • - the leading scientific organization for the study of ingestive behavior;
    • - a principal source of scientific information for the academic community about ingestive behavior;
    • - a respected authority for disseminating reliable information to the general public about the basic mechanisms and therapeutic interventions involved in disorders of eating and obesity;
  • 2. to attract scientists of high quality from the range of relevant disciplines, modes of employment, and career stages;
  • 3. to support the professional development of students and young scientists with research interests in ingestive behavior;
  • 4. to encourage and promote the involvement of its members in Society activities;
  • 5. to build and maintain financial support for its current activities and future development.
